This tour is designed for students taking courses in African Studies and combines the historical and cultural aspects of Ghana with ecological experiences however, any student body or group can take this tour.

The final itinerary will depend on your arrival date and arrival time into Ghana.

The final price per person will be based on the type of Accommodation selected. We are offering two categories…Budget and Standard. Budget will be a combination of shared facilities and self contained. Standard rooms are all self contained with shower and toilet.

Proposed Itinerary

Day 1:

Depart for the airport and your flight to Accra Ghana. Depending on your country of origin you will arrive either in the early evening or morning.

Day 2: (LD)
Day to relax after your flight with an orientation lunch / meeting.

Welcome dinner with drinks at Osekan Resort

Day 3: (BLD)
A full day at the University of Ghana African Studies Department with lectures and general information about Ghana and its history and the slave trade. Lunch at the University.
Dinner out of the hotel.

Day 4: (BLD)
Depart after breakfast for a city tour of Accra with visits to the W.E.B. Dubois Centre for Pan Africanism, National Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Park, Cultural Centre and the Makola Market. Lunch will be at a local restaurant offering both local and indigenous foods.
Dinner out of hotel.

Day 5: (BLD)
After breakfast we depart for Cape Coast, a 2 ½ hour drive along the Trans African Highway. On arrival we will visit the Cape Coast Museum, lunch and then tour the Cape Coast Castle.

After the tour we will transport to Hans Cottage Botel, located on a lagoon with crocodiles.

Dinner tonight at Hans Cottage.

Day 6: (BLD)
After breakfast we will depart for Kakum National Park and experience the famous canopy walkway.

After lunch at One Africa, we will transport to the infamous Elmina Castle for a full guided tour.

Return to Hans Cottage.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7: (BLD)

After breakfast we will depart for Kumsai, capital of the Ashanti Kingdom, a 4 hour drive. Lunch on arrival in Kumsai followed by a city tour including the Manhyia Palace, the residence of the Ashanti king and the Prempeh II Palace Museum, National Cultural Centre.

Overnight in Kumasi with dinner at Jofels Restaurant.

Day 8: (BLD)
After breakfast visit the Ashanti craft villages of Ahwiaa ( wood carving ), Ntonso (Adinkra cloth & tie-dye ), Bonwire ( Kente cloth weaving ). We will also visit the Kumasi Central Market, the biggest market in West Africa. Lunch will be during our touring at a local restaurant.
Dinner and overnight in Kumasi.

Day 9: (BLD)
Early departure after breakfast for Kintampo and the Kintampo water falls. From here we visit Boabeng Fiema, where monkeys live happily with humans.

Lunch will be on route and in the late afternoon we will arrive in Tamale.

Dinner and overnight in Tamale.

Day 10: (BLD)
Early departure from Tamale to Mole National Park arriving before noon. Lunch at Mole Park Lodge followed by an afternoon walking hike to view the animals, especially the Mole Bush Elephant.
Dinner and overnight at Mole Park Lodge ( Availability is limited and may have alternative accommodation outside the park).

Day 11: (BLD)
Early morning guided hike.
This afternoon depart for the Larabanga Mosque, the Mystery Stone and onto Tamale. Lunch and Dinner included with overnight in Tamale.

Day 12: (BLD)
Early morning departure for Tamale and continuing onto Kumasi,
stopping at sites and attractions on route with lunch.

Dinner and overnight in Kumasi.

Day 13: (BL)
Depart Kumasi and return to Accra via Koforidua and the Aburi Hills with visits to the Bead market, Botanical Gardens and lunch on route.

Arrive Accra and your hotel in the late afternoon.

Overnight in Accra with an open night for you to explore and dine as you wish.

Day 14: (BD)
Your last day in Ghana! This will be a free day to do some personal shopping, lounge at La Pleasure Beach, etc. Lunch on your own today.

Farewell Beach Barbeque Party with drinks.

Day 15:
Breakfast at the hotel
Depending on your flight and destination, you will either depart in the morning or the evening. Free time until your transport to the airport.
